The history of Pula began about 3000 years ago when it was built by Illyrians. The Arena in Pula is the Roman Ampitheatre holding 22,000 seats and dominating the city’s skyline. It is also the 6th Largest Roman Ampitheatre still standing.
Many stones from the arena have been taken to build houses and other structures around Pula. The Forum is the main square in the centre of Pula and is home to City Hall which was built in the 10th Century. The Kastel, at the Centre of the old town was previously a fortress but has been transformed into a museum.
