Peterhead is the most easterly town on the Scottish mainland and is situated 33 miles north-east of Aberdeen. This remote corner of Scotland is not as well known but it boasts its own unique charm with its towering cliffs, golden beaches, and gently rolling countryside.
Surrounded by small historic villages and beautiful countryside, it is a coastal town where the pace of life is a little slower. Archaeological excavations suggest the town dates back to Pre-historic times. A farmers market selling fresh produce is held regularly in Drummers Corner, it is named after the former army drummer who besides being a shop keeper, also acted as the town's drummer. A popular bird watching location, especially for puffins, is at the Bullars O' Buchan, which is 5 miles to the south of the town. Peterhead is in a region of North-East Scotland known as Buchan where the language here tends to be very different from any other part of Scotland.
