Patra is Greece's third largest urban area and the regional capital of West Greece, located in northern Peloponnese, west of Athens. The city is built at the foothills of Mount Panachaikon, overlooking the Gulf of Patras.
Patra has a Mediterranean climate. It features the typical mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers, with spring and autumn being pleasant in between seasons.
Patra hosts many interesting places to visit including the Archaeological Museum which opened in July 2009. The building boasts spectacular architecture including an entrance of silver-hued titanium shaped like a flying saucer. Another place well worth a visit is the Archaia Clauss wine factory. The beautiful stone made buildings and large oak carved barrels are a must see.
