Located in the Galicia region, Coruna is the regions most visited port as well as being the capital of the area. It is also known as the glass city due to the glass fronted buildings of the harbour. Coruna also has the oldest working lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules.
The medieval quarter of La Coruna is the sea front promenade and gives the opportunity to stroll along taking in all the sights and sounds of the international port as well as the Castillo de San Anton which is a castle that sits on a small headland. Built in the 16th century the castle is now a museum offering a look at the region through the ages. Another sight from the promenade is the Millennium Obelisk which is a giant needle like structure marking the millennium.
A must see attraction is the Maria Pita square which is home to the huge Palacio Municipal building.
