Bonaire is located approximately 50 miles from the coast of Venezuela. Kralendijk is the capital and also the largest city of Bonaire. The area is a popular destination for water sports as well as snorkeling and diving. There are many beaches surrounding Kralendijk that are ideal for relaxing and unwinding. The waterfront promenade is a prefect location for a leisurely stroll and offers many cafes bars and restaurants.
An interesting historical attraction to visit is the white stucco huts. These were once the homes of slaves who worked as salt workers. The area also covers the history of slavery in Bonaire. Rincón village is the oldest village in Bonaire, and was also used by the slaves. Bonaire Museum is another interesting attraction, which is located just outside of Kralendijk. The museum contains a variety of artifacts that explore many of the different cultures on the island. Kralendijk has a variety of cafes, bars and many restaurants offering Italian, Chinese and Indonesian cuisine.
