Korcula town is the main town on the island with its many monuments, galleries, restaurants and hotels. The Museum of Korcula is found in Korcula’s main town; built in the 15th and 16th centuries three storeys high with an attic and a basement.
The Museum of Korcula is home to a display of a stone tablet called the Psephism from Lumbarda which dates back to the 4th century. On the plaques of stone is ancient Greek writing found to be the oldest written document found on Croatian territory.
Korcula has many small, secluded beaches over the island but the most popular are the pebble beach Pupriatska Luka and the sandy beach of Vela Przina.
The Korcula old town is surrounded by 14th century thick stone walls, used as a defence against passing enemies.
Korcula has a very mild Mediterranean climate like that of southern Italy or Greece. It experiences long hot summers with very rare rainfall and mild winters.
