Ilhabela is an archipelago and city that is situated 4 miles off the coast of São Paulo state, in Brazil. There are 35 km of beaches, a coastal Atlantic rain forest, mountain peaks to climb and over 300 cool waterfalls cascading into the ocean, as well as underwater wrecks to explore. From the top of Pico São Sebastião, the islands highest spot at 1378 m you can see the other islands in the archipelago: Vitória, Búzios, Serraria and Cabras. Ilhabela is home of one of the last virgin reserves of Atlantic Rain Forest (Mata Atlantica), with more than 300 waterfalls and more than 30 beaches, the best of which are on the southern part of the island. In 1997, just about 85% of the Archipelago of Ilhabela was declared a Biospheric Reserve by UNESCO.
