Hamilton is Bermuda's main port on the north side of Hamilton Harbour and although there is a parish of the same name, the city of Hamilton is in the parish of Pembroke. Front Street lines the dock and is Hamilton’s main street and the centre of activity. Its pastel-painted Victorian Buildings are a haven for tax-free shops selling everything from perfumes to Swiss watches. In summer the street is closed to traffic for Harbour Nights, a weekly evening festival featuring craft and food stalls, performers and late-night shopping. Despite its small size the island has a long list of tourist attractions to cater for every taste, from museums and historic buildings, art galleries and studios, to parks and nature reserves. It is well worth climbing to the top of the spire of the Bermuda Cathedral for an impressive view of Hamilton, also worth seeing is Gibbs Hill Lighthouse; it is the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the world.
