The area’s local population are largely Vietnamese fishermen living on the water in floating homes. The main means of transportation are traditional sailing junks which have featured in the many films and television programmes filmed in Ha Long Bay and which visitors can take a cruise aboard to explore the secluded beaches and beautiful caves only accessible by boat.
