Located on the Costa del Azahar, Castellon de la Plana offers the chance to enjoy a more peaceful aspect of Spain. The city is full of medieval origin with its beautiful houses and churches plus many squares or piazzas to enjoy the warm sunshine.
There are two places not to be missed in Castellon de la Plana. The first being the Castellon Fine Arts Museum which was once part of the Serra Espada school. The museum gives the visitor a chance to see items found within the region, the relics date from the Palaeolithic period right up to the Middle Ages. There is also a pottery section within the museum housing pieces from some of the most important factories in Spain and a painting section where there are works of art by the likes of Ribera, Ribalta and Sorolla.
The El Fadri Bell Tower was first built in the 13th century but over the years has undergone some modernisation and as a result has lost most of its Gothic Style from its transformation into the separate bell tower we see today in the 15th century. The bell tower is a museum now holding many valuable works of art made from precious metal, also there is an original Robalta painting and a Vergara carving.
