Calvi is a city on the French island of Corsica.
The motto of Calvi “Calvi Semper Fidelis” means “Calvi always faithful” referred originally to the cities loyalty to the republic of Genoa.
The Citadel of Calvi is well worth a visit but prepare yourself for many steps and seemingly endless cobbles.
A break is available is half way up with a visit to the shops and restaurants as well an art gallery.
A visit to Calvi on the 15th of August is a must; to see the best fireworks display you will ever experience.
The L’Eglise Santa Maria is also well worth a visit with its distinctive pink colour! It is a lovely old style catholic church.
