When does my tour start?

This tour will commence at 10:30am

When do I return to port after my tour/excursion?

You will be returned back to the port at approximately 4:30pm.

You will be met at the port by your Cruising Excursions representative who will then guide you to your air conditioned minivan ready to commence your tour.

THIS IS A SMALL GROUP TOUR WITH A MAXIMUM OF 8 PEOPLE (with English Speaking Driver)

This tour has been specifically designed for those who do not wish to walk too much but want to experience as much as possible in Athens.

This tour of Athens is designed to provide time to visit the New Acropolis museum and also to see the highlights of the town . It starts with a beautiful seaside drive from Piraeus cruise terminal, along the coast line of the Aegean sea which surrounds Athens from the south.

During this seaside drive you will see the Marina “Zea”, the main commercial harbour of Ancient Athens and one of the most expensive yacht marinas nowadays. The drive continues through the upper class residential area of Piraeus; Kastella, along the picturesque leisure port of Microlimano. On our way from Piraeus to Athens we drive by the Basketball and Football stadiums, used during the Olympic Games of 2004, moreover by the New Cultural Center Of “Stavros Niarchos Foundation”, and the “Onassion” heart surgery center.

The drive leads you to the Acropolis Museum under the south slope of the Acropolis. It contains pediment sculptures, relics, and statues found on the sacred rock of Acropolis, which formed most of its decoration. Among these statues, the most well-known are the female figures with the characteristic archaic smile called ‘Korai’, the Moschoforos (a man who is carrying a calf across his shoulders), and the its famous Caryatides. The museum has the same orientation with the Parthenon Temple, and from the third floor you have an exceptional view of the Temple, the highlight of the Acropolis hill. The visit of the museum takes approximately 1 ½ hours.

The tour continues to the Hill Of Pnyx, the birth place of democracy, the location of General Assembly of Ancient Athens, the Parliament in nowadays. From Pnyx we have an amazing view of the “trademark” of Athens, the sacred rock of Acropolis, a natural plateau with a height of 150 meters above the sea level. The impressive view gives the opportunity to picture,  Propylea; the entrance to the site, the Temple of Wingless Victory which was devoted to Goddess Nike, the Erechtheum - the most sacred and mythical of all the temples of sacred rock- with its famous Caryatides, and the master piece of Parthenon, devoted to Goddess Athena; the Goddess of wisdom the protector of the city of Athens.

The tour continues driving by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Panathinaic Stadium (where the Olympic Games were held for the first time in modern Athens in 1896), the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guards. Also we will see the Cultural Trilogy of the city consisted of three beautiful neo-classical buildings, the Academy of Science and Culture, the University and the National Library.

Finally time to enjoy Plaka, the old historical village of Athens, nestled right in the centre of the City.  This is where lunch will be provided in a quaint typically Greek restaurant the Acropol.

The Greek meze comprises of many dishes plus a main course and dessert, here are just some of the offerings that will be available for you:

Meze:  Tzatziki, Pita Bread, Greek Salad, Spinach Pies

Main Course:  Chicken Soulvaki, Pork Soulvaki, Moussaka, Spaghetti Bolognese, Meat and Potatoes, Beef Stew, Spicy Meatballs (these are just some of the dishes that will be available).

Dessert:  Baklava, Ice Cream, Greek Yoghurt & Honey

Please note:  Some of the dishes may change on the day, there is only 1 main course and 1 dessert per person.  Drinks are not included and need to be paid on the day directly to the restaurant.
