Itinerary

When does my tour start?
This is a private tour and the tour time will be set to fit in with your arrival time.

When do I return to port after my tour/excursion?
The tour is 5 hours in length so you will be returned in plenty of time for your cruise ship departure. All tour times are based on Shore time (i.e. local time, - not ship time)

This is a Private Tour

Clients will be met by a Cruising Excursions representative at the cruise port, the representative will be holding a sign with the Cruising Excursions logo.

This 5-hour Private tour will introduce you to the most popular sites of Nova Scotia. Your driver will also act as your guide for the tour & will show you all the highlights & inform you of the history of Halifax. Your driver guide will be able to stop wherever the guests prefer in order to take those memorable pictures.

You will begin your tour with stops at the Immigration Museum, the historic Georgian homes in the south of Halifax, & Point Pleasant Park. Maybe take a stroll through the Halifax Public Gardens & visit Citadel Hill, Fleming Park & the Titanic Burial Site.

Your journey will then take you to the well-known Peggy’s Cove. Located in the Southwest of Halifax, Peggy’s Cove is a popular tourist attraction, and is used by locals to fish for lobster. On the way you will be able to stop at Acadian Maple Products should you choose, to sample some local maple candy, syrup, maple wine, & cookies (not included).

Arriving at Peggy’s Cove, your Driver Guide will take you to Indian Point Road to get beautiful views of St Margaret’s Bay.

Founded in 1811, the village of Peggy’s Cove was originally a busy fishing & farming village, due to the fertile surrounding land. It is still habited by a small community of fishermen and families today, and you will be able to see the fishermen at work catching lobsters and bringing in their catch of the day. Why not chat to one of the locals about their daily catch or browse the gift shops, photo hut, art gallery or see the DeGarth rock sculpture

Another interesting site at Peggy’s Cove is the classic red & white lighthouse. Located at Peggy’s Point, tourists can explore the granite out crop of which the lighthouse sits on. It is strongly recommended that guests use caution and adhere to the warning signs however, as there are dangerous slippery rocks and unpredictable surfaces. Your Driver Guide on the day will give you more information on this.

Leaving Peggy’s Cove, we head back to Halifax and venture through the village of West Dover, the communities of Bayside, Shad Bay, Prospect Bay, White Lake & Hatchet Lake.

At the end of the tour you will be returned to the port in plenty of time for your ships departure.

Note: This is a Private tour so the exact itinerary can be discussed with your Driver Guide on the day of the tour. If you would like to spend longer at certain destinations, your knowledgeable driver guide would be happy to go through the possibilities with you.

Notes:
Washrooms are available at the gift shop at Peggy’s Cove, Flemming Park, & Acadian Maple.

Guests that bring their Passports with them can have them stamped with the Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse at The Sou’Wester Gift Shop in Peggy’s Cove. Please ask your Driver Guide for further information.
