Itinerary

- Pick up from the port

- Walking tour of the city

- Free time

- Return to the port

You will be met at the port of Sete by our representative who will hold a sign with the Cruising Excursions logo printed on.

Follow your friendly guide through this labyrinth of medieval streets typical of Montepellier, a city founded in the 10th century by the counts of Toulouse, which then later turned to be an important trading centre as well as an educational centre. Thanks to the first established university of medicine in Europe in 1160. Due to this important historical scholar centre, Montpellier is lively city which breathes youth and energy creating a lovely atmosphere around its picturesque streets and lovely squares.

During your walking tour, you’ll discover the highlights of the town, including ‘Place de la Comedie’, known as ‘l’oeuf’ (the egg) by the locals, where the heart of the historical centre lies. Here, you’ll witness the beautiful ‘Fountaine des Trois Graces’ (Fountains of the Three Graces) sculpted by Etienne d’Antoine, and around the square you will find numerous little caffes, restaurants and shops.

Your tour will then continue to the city’s own version of ‘Arc de Triomphe’ located in the ‘Peyrou Royal Square’, built at the end of the 17th century to celebrate the French monarchy of the time and then it’s time to admire some luxury as you pass by Montpellier’s grand ‘hôtels particuliers’ or the private mansions. Built between the 17th and 18th century, these private buildings are not generally open to the public however, but don't worry as your guide will give you plenty of time to admire these beautiful buildings and take some photos.

Last but not the least, your tour will conclude with a visit to the St. Pierre Cathedral founded in 1364, an impressive example of Roman Catholic architecture.

At the end of your visit, you’ll get some free time to enjoy this gorgeous city on your own or relax on one of the many cafes before going back to the cruise port.
