You will depart from Port Chalmers towards central Dunedin to enjoy some time on your own.
Here you will be given a short introduction about the city as well as some orientation for shopping, restaurants and more!
After your free time, you will meet our representative for your departure towards Lanarch Castle.
On your way to Lanarch Castle you will experience a breathtaking scenic drive through the stunning Otago Peninsula.
This long, hilly ‘finger’ of land lies in the south-east of Otago Harbour, famous for being home of many species of wildlife including penguins, seabirds and seals. Your guide will inform you about the history and volcanic origins of this peninsula as you glance at the amazing scenery.
You will then arrive at Larnach Castle.
Built by politician and entrepreneur William Larnach in 1874, the castle constituted as a private residence for the Larnach family and it’s one of the few houses of this scale in New Zealand. In here you will have a guided stroll around the castle to view its gorgeous gardens.
Now, the castle is a significant attraction receiving thousands of visits every year and it’s a famously known to host an annual Winter Ball in its Ballroom.
In here, you will have some free time to have a snack or lunch (not included in the price).
After lunch, you will have some more sightseeing awaiting for you! You will depart from the castle and travel back to Dunedin, where you will experience more interesting sights such as:
- The world’s Steepest Street (Baldwin Street)
- Otago University & it’s infamous student area
- Historic Buildings, Churches, Cathedrals + much more.
You will then return to Port Chalmers, plenty of time in advance before your departure.
